Title: Pools/Volumes Retention, Expiration, and FIFO not executing in CompleteView 7.2.0 –7.3.0
Date: 7/14/2023
Description: Pool and volume retention (archive & backup), expiration, and FIFO processing may be interrupted and not completed if folders not matching the <guid>_yyyy_mm_dd format are present in the storage pool volume path folder.
Issue Summary:
Beginning with CompleteView version 7.2.0, video is stored in folders whose names begin with the associated camera’s GUID, where earlier versions prepended the camera’s ID number as assigned by CompleteView to the folder name. While upgrading to 7.2.0 – 7.3.0, folders with the prepended camera ID number were renamed to conform to the new GUID-first scheme. Cameras that had been moved or deleted sometimes had their associated folders orphaned in the volume, and those folders could not be renamed during the upgrade process. Consequently, pool or volume retention (archive & backup), expiration, and FIFO processing may be interrupted and not completed if folders not matching the <guid>_yyyy_mm_dd format are present in the volume path folder. Any folder not following the naming format could cause the issue, but the folders currently observed to be causing the issue are daily video folders that were not migrated. Symptoms of the issue include failed archiving or backing up of video as scheduled, Regular volume drives filling up, and FIFO not executing, and/or files scheduled for removal not being removed.
Issue Workaround: If there were migration issues, correct those issues first:
- Check each storage pool or volume drive for folder names that do not match the <guid>_yyyy_mm_dd naming
- For Orphaned Video – Either delete the folder if the video is no longer needed or move the folder to a different location.
- For Daily Video Folders in Camera ID Format – Move the video to the associated GUID formatted folder for the same day then delete the Camera ID Folder.
- For Other Folders – Delete or Move to another location
- Run the Sync Database Tool
- Restart the RS service.
